About our Safety Gloves
Hands take more injuries at work than any other part of the body, and the right glove is cheap. This page has Portwest's everyday work gloves by the pair: PU-palm and nitrile grip gloves for handling, latex-coated grip gloves for building work, thermal grip gloves for winter, polka-dot and Dermiflex gloves for light assembly, Canadian rigger gloves, and cut-resistant gloves for sheet metal, glass and blades.
Mechanical protection is rated under EN 388, which scores abrasion, blade cut, tear and puncture resistance, plus a cut rating from A to F under the ISO 13997 test. A later letter means more cut protection.

Safety Gloves questions
What do the numbers on EN 388 gloves mean?
Four digits for abrasion, blade cut, tear and puncture, each scored from 0 up, and a letter from A to F for cut resistance under ISO 13997. An X means that test was not carried out.
Which glove is best for general building work?
A latex or PU-coated grip glove for dry handling, and nitrile where there is oil or wet.
Which gloves for winter?
A thermal grip glove, such as the Portwest A140, has a lined knit shell with a coated grip palm.
